Session 05 - First impression of Serwick
General Summary
The Heroes made their way to Serwick, immediately greeted by mistrust and disapproval when they lay eyes on the Tiefling Auri.
After a short conversation with the people there, they are led to the tavern in town, where they start another conversation with Saleth Ylladan. She doesn't live in Serwick and tells them, she is on a diplomatic mission for the Crown in Isonstead.
After a frustrating talk with Lance Carver, the head of Serwick, they agree to let him lead them to the cliff, even though he isn't open about the whole story. He asks the Heroes to camp outside of the town - mainly because of the mistrust against Auri.
Saleth notices the atmosphere in the town and offers the party to join them, so with Saleth they camp outside of town and go to sleep. On Keth's watch, they can hear the bell of Serwick ringing to signal an emergency. While Auri and Thirokk stay behind, the others hurry over to the city.
They find the town in chaos and one of the Farmers with a stab wound to his stomach. Kileana heals him and he talks about a shadowy figure, breaking in the herb shop. He wanted to stop the figure and injured them, but got the stab wound in response.
Kileana and Keth are starting the rumor that this might be the effects of a curse that is on the town, after Lance admits, it's been going on for a couple of weeks now. Lance actually worries over that statement and tells them, he can't accompany them to the cliff, he has to take care of the town and its people first.
The next morning, Keth gives him a piece of their mind and Lance actually starts to think about his misconstructions. He tells them the truth in exchange for the promise to help them against their curse. His father Hogil Carver even shows remorse for what they have done, and tells the Party, they didn't push him, he fell down while defending himself, but they left him anyway.
The party now leaves for the mountains and after travelling for a while and climbing up a cliffside, they find - hidden between some big rocks - two tents that Keth immediately explores. Inside they find Drow Elves that are ready to defend themselves. After a rather short fight, Kileana manages to deescalate the situation and the Drow tell their story of how their House was killed and they fled to the surface. They destroyed the portal to prevent anyone from following them, but they have a sick Drow with them, that was cursed by a Drow priestess of Lolth.
They are looking for the "The Eye of the Sun", a white, glowing crystal in oval form, that is supposed to be very effective against Drow Magic. After a longer discussion, the group agrees to keep an eye out and bring back the crystal, if they find one.
