Serwick

Serwick is a small village in Astra, close to the Eastern Peak. The townsfolk are highly superstitious and believe that demonic blood is necessarily evil. Therefore they are highly alarmed whenever they see a Tiefling roaming about.   They worship Torm in this town, even though they do not always follow all of his principles. They pretend to be sacrificial because they are a tight community and help each other out but would rarely lift a finger if a stranger were in trouble.

The people

The head of the town is Lance Carver, he's in charge of law and order in the village and whenever you have a problem, you come to him. In evenings he's usually to be found at the local tavern.   Hogil Caver is Lance's father. He's old and confused and he's been there when the Tiefling Amnon fell down the cliff up in the mountains. He was also one of the people spreading the rumor that Amnon was the reason for the illness that befell Serwick 60 years ago.   Leslie Hopf is the tavern keep, a nervous man that doesn't want any trouble. He has a beautiful wife and two children.

History

60 years ago, a Tiefling named Amnon was trying to find a cure for an illness that befell the people in Serwick, but when he left the village, some of the people followed him. They pushed him down the cliff, expecting him to be the cause of the illness due to his demonic blood.   Amnon was hurt and dying but he prayed to Torm to forgive these people for what they have done, and to heal them of their sickness, for the children in the town should not suffer for their parent's mistakes. Torm heard Amnon's plea and through the connection of the Amulet he healed the people, infusing the Amulet itself with holy power.   One of the older people in town, Hogil Garver, claims that Amnon fell down the cliff during a fight that ensued and that they didn't mean for him to fall. But they also didn't help him and started to spread the rumor that he was the cause for the illness all along. It was believable, since the sickness vanished as soon as Amnon did.
