Session 06 - Sacrifice
General Summary
The cave
The party gets ready to continue the search for the amulet, when Rael arrives in the camp of the Drows, carrying a letter from Shari for all of them. In the letter, Shari asks the party to get back to Kehill as soon as possible. They decide to hurry and find the Amulet, before travelling back to Kehill, and Thirokk stays in the camp with the Drow to make sure they are not going back to town, and to have an eye on the sick Drow, Riznet. It doesn't take the group that long to find the cliff and after climbing down, they are met with the sight of an underground pond inside a small cave. Amnon's skeleton is in front of it, surrounded by a magic circle that glows in green light. They obtain the bag that Amnon carried without triggering the spell, but the Amulet is neither in the bag, nor on his body. Not sure on what else to do, the party decides to trigger the magic by Keth stepping into it. The form of a green-skinned Monster with one giant eye and four more moving eyestalks appears infront of them and starts speaking telepathically. It tells them about a test they have to absolve to get the amulet, that was set by Amnon to ensure the amulet wouldn't fall into the wrong hands. Two openings in the wall appear and Keth, Auri and Rael step into the openings. Soon Keth feels an enormous pressure that rises in pain for every second she stays in that chamber. Auri and Rael find the amulet, but are met with a choice. Either leave Keth to die and take the object that can save the forest near Kehill, or to destroy the amulet but save Keth's life. Auri doesn't let Keth suffer for long and pierces the amulet with her Rapier, stopping the magical pressure on Keth. The Spectator - the creature that was summoned to guard the amulet - now speaks to Kileana who is waiting outside for her friends. It tells her, it is her turn to prove how much she is willing to sacrifice to get her friends back. Kileana burns her hand in order to open the wall so her friends can get out again. Upon completing the challenge, Kileana takes the real amulet from the Spectator. Having done its deed, the Spectator is free to do as it pleases. It decides to stay in the cavern for now and doesn't trouble the party further. Keth decides to collect Amnon's bones and carefully wrap them up in some cloth.Danger incoming
When the party returns to the Drow camp, Thirokk is left with the sick Drow and one other. She tells her friends, there are Ogres making their way over to Serwick and three of the Drows left to stop them from reaching the town. They rush to catch up with the ogres before they reach Serwick and find them in the midst of battle with the other three Drow. The party joins the fray and a fierce and bloody battle ensues, where one Drow dies despite Kileana's best efforts, and Rael goes down as well, being hit by one of the Ogre's attacks. One of the Drows covers the Ogre in darkness and rushes up to Rael, forcing her to swallow a healing potion. The battle is far from easy, but finally Rael manages to slay one of them, when Saleth appears - fully armored in chain mail - and joins the battle. The ogres, that were already pushed to their limit by the party, eventually lose the battle and therefore their lives. Now that the heat of the battle cools down, the Drow elves move to collect their companion and take care of their last rites. Before they head back to the camp however, they offer the party one half of a sending stone, so that if they ever needed some help, they could reach the group of Drows. At the same time, Saleth offers the party to end the evening with a drink in Serwick's tavern to celebrate their victory - much to Keth's excitement. But before the party goes back to Serwick, there is something else they have to do. When they head back to the Drow camp to collect Thirokk, who has successfully healed the sick Drow, Keth retrieves Amnon's bones from where she had hidden them. They find a spot in the wilds to bury Amnon's bones and may or may not send a silent prayer to their deity. They put up a headstone and ingrave it with the following words: "Amnon, the Selfless."Rewards Granted
