The Battle of Dark Canyon

"Your forces mean nothing! Nothing! An endless writhing mass of darkness will come in my death! Your world will perish and burn long after you rot away from this plane!" - Arak-Thul's last words

In the final days of the Three Hammer's War, the greatest battle brings together the most individuals. Spanning many years and involving sieges, pushes forwards and back from dark creatures from beyond, the forces of light eventually fight, claw, and tear their war towards the epicenter of darkness' control in the area and conquer the forces of darkness in the end.

The Conflict

Prelude

Building up with the amassing of not just Ghe'tani forces in the area this time, a great number of Kla'tani and even Naga'tani and Dragon allies fly in from the south to aid in the great battle.

Deployment

Spreading out over a large swath, the armies push forward together unified by Sein Da and holding localized positions. Moving with a systematic cleansing and scouring of the terrain, the climax comes finally in the end of days in the end of the era.

Battlefield

The land around the Dark Canyon for years has been known as a barren land. But after the battle, the rocky and hill-laden terrain has become filled with ancient remnants of machines and other fallen massive creatures.

The Engagement

A systematic march from multiple positions. A long period of war engaged here through numerous groups of reinforcements until all was exhausted and laid on the table. Had the final assault failed, it is unclear if the world would be the same place it is today.

Outcome

A cleansing of the terrain left the Dark Portal closed.

Aftermath

The connection to the Demonic Plane persists long after the battle however, giving darker beings and entities a way to converse across the boundaries much easier than before.

Historical Significance

The tale of the battle lingers in the area, but this was not the last battle in this area, and the landscape would be further changed almost a millennia later.

Legacy

Much like the end of the Three Hammer's War, magic enveloped and encompassed the land, both dark and light from the end of this. Many historians see this battle specifically as the one that showed the corruptible power of the dark spirits more than other battles.

In Literature

There is little literature written about this battle aside from historical books detailing darker magics gathered from the ritual circles found here.

Technological Advancement

Very little magic still persisted, though large machines and weapons of war were used and placed within the many trenches and landscapes of this battlefield.
