metro tunnels

Summary

Tunnels built focused on transport of people and cargo, with a width of 21,5m allowing for 4 @ers trains to safely go through at a time, developed by the scientists of district 22 and it's currently the most used method of transport throughout the city, traversing underground, ground level and on elevated dedicated bridges where needed.

Public access

The tunnels are open to the public for free access, with a few areas just for guards and employed personel, however, for the usual person there's a check up before he can use the facility, after 1 year and 6 months of continuous metro use, the user is granted a level 1 access card for faster and easier entry into the area, even then, the tunnels are strictly forbidden to all, for safety reasons.

The card checkpoints are the ones you have to go through to acess the train, they are equipped with electronic turnstiles with facial recognition, 3 guards are all times and one personel for safety purposes, everytime you go through the gates the guards do a check on you apart from having your picture taken, this process takes around 30 seconds, upon any suspicious activity the checkpoints are closed with steel gates and the threat will be mobilized as quick as possible, the same applies for leaving the metro station

the metro stations have air conditioning 24/7 for the best experience by the users, constantly regulated depending on the outside weather, it is a well lit and clean space, with white floor, and grey walls and ceiling, the tunel interiors are entirely black

There are many different things to be found, a few different businesses like food places, touristic planning agencies and miscellaneous stores, a few vending machines with all kinds of snacks and drinks, decently comfy seating, interactive city and metro maps

Architecture

The tunel

It is made mainly of fiber-reinforced concrete with steel support structures and ventilation system, behind the concrete there's a layer of acoustic linings, fiberglass, and acoustic panels in addition to acoustic baffles and diffusers inside the tunnels to reduce the noise inside and outside the tunnels, the latter which cannot be heard from the outside, behind this soundproof barrier there's waterproof membranes made of synthetic material in areas where it's needed, on top of that the entire tunnel has high end technology signaling systems and real time passenger information, the tracks are made of steel covered by insulation material between the track and the guideway accompanied by electromagnetic coils for train propulsion and levitation, lastly the tunnel is internally covered by dark stainless steel for aesthetic purposes

It employs trained guards and trained personel to check all possible passengers and employees, equipped to deal with most threats and high priority response @AntiSkill times it also has several fire detectors and different alarms for multiple situations

History

These tunels had their project start in 2021 after a debate between scientists of district 22 and the city council, at the time the city's main method of transport were cars and motorcycles, however, based on the city's ideals of being an eternal technological bastion they searched for more eco friendly and efficient options, while also being accessible for most of the population considering many residents are elementary, middle and highschoolers, the main tunnels took around 1 year to make, while new roadways are built on the regular to account for a few city expansions

Being one of the main upsides of living in Technopolis, people are often surprised and eager about the feeling these trains provide, given they're the only way you can get access into the city
