There was a time when, before the atrocities of the Elven Purge, Elves and Humans dwelt side by side. And, while things were very tribal in those elden days, nontheless there was friendship, and peoples allied one with another.
An excerpt from Jorm Gallagher's historical writ
called "Burnt Castles: The Time Before the Purge

Deep in the Impenetrable Forest of Birkwud, far from the settled lands of inner Pax, lie Hamish's Crypts. A lifelong project of atonement, Hamish Skaalder dedicated his life to laying the slaughtered Elves of ancient Paxander to rest.

There, within the lovingly built crypts and catacombs, lie the surviving treasures of ancient Paxander.

Those that were not plundered by the Sea Elves, of course.

Carefully, the monk moved them to the The Reliquary within the main body of the catacombs, in order to preserve them as they were. Painstakingly, he arranged and stored them safely, before activating a modified Stasis Box to preserve them as they were, just then, for the rest of eternity.

The much simpler stasis boxes used by households throughout Pax today operate on the same principle of Temporal Relastatics, only on a much smaller scale. The monk, Hamish, had taken an Elvish technology and used it to preserve and protect priceless works of art and brilliance; most commonly, however, it is used to preserve food and other perishable items.

Most homes in Pax have a stasis box, nowadays. How about yours?

"You mean the Elven Purge was Real?!"

Discovery
No one is sure when the elves first invented this miracle of a food storage concept; all of the records of Elvish innovation were destroyed during and after the purge.
