The Elidian Empire

The history of the founding of the Elidian Empire goes back all the way to the founding of the city-state of Agena, with St. Elidia's eldest son as its king. While his mother fought in wars against the elves, King Agen was a savvy politician. His diplomatic alliances, arrainged mariage of family members, and trade agreements laid the groundwork for His grandson Artus II to later unite the Five Kingdoms into the Empire.   After the signing of the Emerald Concordant, the Empire finally had a era of peace and expansion. In just a few centuries the Empire had expanded to twice its original size and advanced technologically ahead of the other races. This rapid progress would see the Imperial take to the seas and set there eyes on reclaiming there ancestral homeland to the East. They also began to have contact with nations from the Far East.   At the end of the Third Era, the Emperor, Artus XII, was in Barut Nor when the Eye of Terror opened letting in the Azer Horde. After a long siege the city fell and the Emperor along with delegates from the other Five Nation were executed, marking the beginning of the Horde Wars.   In the decades since the war, the Elidian Empire has recovered the fastest and once again set there sites on the East. This time the Empire would arrive in force and settle the whole of the peninsula, naming the land Durnil.
"It is hard to tell fact from myth when it comes to St. Elidia. Many scholars agree that the number of battles attributed to her is unrealistic, yet new evidence suggests that she may have had a large role in as many as 400 separate engagements over the course of the numerous wars she fought in. While that number seems extraordinary, we must also remember that she had rather long life for a human. Some sources claim that she died approximately 10 years before the Emerald Concordant, which would put her well over 200 years old. I submit that further archeological and archival study is required to find the truth to these mythological claims."   -Harin the Scholar, Saints and Heroes: A Study of Legends
