The Destruction of Merryhall

The Destruction of Merryhall was a battle fought during The Three Days War between Careem's forces and the soldiers at the castle Merryhall.

Prelude

After Careem had broken out of the Blackiron cells he, his brothers Thrain, and the rest of his party rode to Merryhall. Bjorn attempted to convince his brother to ride for Frode's hall and meet up with Andor Twice-Maimed and the rest of the soldiers sworn to Careem. Careem disregarded his brothers advice, and told Bjorn to leave and bring the rest of the soldiers to Merryhall.

Battle

There was no true strategy used by Careem and his men. Those who witnessed the battle described the Nords fighting like devils, wielding flame and attacking the castle wildly. The battle started midday and was over when night had begun to fall. Careem ordered Lord Merry's wife and children to be brought to them, but they had barricaded themselves in the church, so Careem ordered it to be burned down. Careem's friend, Caspian Rein, attempted to save them from burning but when he entered, he never came back out. Lord Merry's wife and children's corpses were strung up outside the gates of Merryhall.

Aftermath

When Careem's brothers and the other soldiers arrived they found Merryhall completely destroyed. Bjorn was horrified from the attack, and confronted his brother. Careem took the rest of his forces and left Merryhall, this time riding northwards towards the capital city Alumyth.
Andor Twice-Maimed stayed behind in Merryhall with a small host of men. He took pity on the smallfolk still left alive. He had Lord Merry and his family buried.
Ser Merrick arrived to the ruins Merryhall, along with the Lord Draven of Blackhold and his men, originally intended to kill Andor and his men. Instead Merrick spared Andor he took the last remaining member of House Merry, a girl named Joy under his wing. And he continued his pursuit of Careem.
