Elves are beings of beauty and grace. Their delicate features typically end there, as a darker history lies within.

Rumors

They are said to be directly descended from divinity.

It is said that they somehow had a hand in the Age of Automatons, despite the fact all the mages who led this enslavement of able-bodied humankind were human themselves.

Beauty Ideals

Willowy or feminine looks are preferred for all gender identities. Long hair is seen as a matter of status, and all elves have flowing knotless locks.

Gender Ideals

The difference between men and women are seen only in one area, and that is who carries a child during the reproductive process. They have no facial hair aside from their eyebrows, and are almost always pleasing to the eye.

Within elven society, men are seen as the ones who stay home and are to be supported and live lavish lives while the women go out to support them. This doesn't mean that men lack employment - they are the discipliners and child-rearers of the family. More wealthy elven families may hire nannies to care for their children, thereby freeing up time for men to be more creative and do the past time of all elven men: weaving.

Courtship Ideals

Love exists for elves, but they are taught from near-birth that it does not. They are encouraged to think and act only logically, and as such, their relationships have more to do with how much two elves believe they can help each other and how much they believe they can continue to keep elfkind protected from the influence of humanity, together.
