Shi'Krah

Overview

Shi'Krah is the afterlife for all beings on Teralt. Upon dying, a creature's soul is pulled into the The Door at the End of the World and trapped within Shi'Krah.

Creation

Shi'Krah was born out of necessity. Prior to its existence, the souls of the living on Teralt would do as any souls do, and go wherever the dead go after they're gone. But when Aster, Phantom of the Void invaded Teralt, Andromeda's only solution— after realizing she could not defeat the entity— was to expend all of her energy to trap Aster within an inner dimension. The dead would now serve as fuel for the enchantment, keeping the Parent trapped within Andromeda, and keeping the Scions safe.
But Andromeda was too weak to capture the Parent after their epic battle, and so the responsibility fell to her child. This left Shi'Krah to continuously capture the souls of the dead, but as they were never needed as fuel, they filled Andromeda's inner dimension, and Shi'Krah became the afterlife of Teralt's denizens.

Realm Without a Ruler

After the Great Expulsion of the Ancients, they were sealed away inside of Shi'Krah. In this new dimension, Ancient magic was unusable, and so one of the strongest of the Sealed Ones, Azmahl, seized control of the land, establishing himself as the ruler of the Land of Death.
Azmahl reigned for many years as king, but was eventually killed in a power struggle between Ancients. His third daughter succeeded him, becoming Queen of Shi'Krah, but Azmahl's legacy would endure.
After Azmahl's murder, and subsequent disappearance, the Ancients agreed to a truce. They had no way of knowing what happened to Azmahl, and presumably the Ancients' souls would be destroyed at their death.
This truce, however, did not stop a civil war from breaking out, though the Ancients used the immortal souls of the residents of Shi'Krah in their battles, forcing them to fight for them.

The Great Unsealing

When The Door at the End of the World was finally opened, the souls of the dead and the Ancients reentered the world, leaving Shi'Krah barren. While the Door remained open, anyone that died could reenter the world as a Lingering One.
