The Raven Queen, the Matron of Death is the ancient goddess of the passage onto the afterlife. She is so old and mysterious that her true name has long been lost, her closer friends simply calling her Raven. Her patrons seek her favour to guide them in death and prevent the curse of undeath from falling on them. Because of her motherly feelings towards those whom she reaps, sometimes she selects heroic souls to become reapers for her, to help her collect the souls that are to fade away. She is known to favour those of lawful alignments, and even would potentially endorse the undead existing among the living, depending on the circumstances and context, such as that of Darkon. She is the daughter of Zonir, and as the guardian of the souls who pass on, her duty to her father and her role as the goddess of the afterlife come first.
