Elden Stronghold

Purpose / Function

This fortress was created during the first age to aid in the war against the Elders. A massive crystal at the center spun the Weave that was around it fueling the protective runes carved into the walls. The runes were a mix of protection and anti-magic.

Architecture

The great stone walls are carefully carved in ornate patterns. The patterns form ancient runes of protection making it harder to breach the walls. Even elder dragons had a hard time tearing down the walls. However, over time the magics faded as the spinning crystal at the heart slowed to a stop. The power of the runes faded as well as the majesty of this fortress.

History

The Original Council of Elders wanted more power than the near godhood they already had. They were given this power, becoming the earliest dragons and fashioned more after themselves. The ruled with a harsh, iron fist and the people of Moorgate chose to overthrow and destroy them. They built various structures to aid plight against the Elders, this fortress was one of them. After the War against the Elders, the fortress was no longer needed and the matrix crystal fell into disarray and the magic faded. Without the protective fields and like any building without maintenance.   Recently(1298), a group attempted to revitalize this stronghold, but the project was abandoned. For reasons not properly known, nearly all of the resources were left behind, including the research on the core. Various creatures have settled into Elden Stronghold, and even now it is not clear if they were the cause or if they settled in after.   Rumors surrounding the Heartstone core and the Stronghold claim that the Council of Elder Lieges still hold a bounty for whoever can reclaim the research and resources, and further rewards for any willing to continue the research.
