The Diladian Empire

Once a loose band of tribes, the Diladians have become the greatest and most powerful Empire in the history of Terra. A great warchief united the first few tribes that settled in the north west regions of what is now the city of Nova. The settlement grew slowly but surely over the years, passing leadership of the united tribes through the progeny of the first great warchief. It stayed that way for 300 years until a young upstart warchief named Vicenzi Vitari decided to wage war on the nearby Thessali, integrating their new conquest into their fold. He continued to expand the realm of Diladia for the next 50 years, growing the city of Nova tenfold in that span of time. His strong personality and military prowess led him to take the title of Emperor of Diladia. Before his death, Vicenzi Vitari, weary of the weight of the crown, created a senate, which divided power amongst the working class and the elites. This was the first form of democracy in all of Terra.
It continued on this way for almost 100 years, before an Emperor named Julius Cadenza decided to disband the Senate, facing several peasant revolts in retribution. He struck back with brutal efficiency, eventually crucifying 10,000 peasants along the winding road to Nova. Once again under complete absolute power, the Empire continued to grow, cutting ties with Old Ferrus during the War of the Lich. Old Ferrus was destroyed, and Emperor Julius was content to solidify his holdings in the west while his brethren to the east suffered and rebuilt.
After the founding of Ferrus over the ancient ruins of an old Elven city, Julius tried to garner influence in the growing community, but was completely rebuffed due to his betrayal during the war. This grudge lasted for the next 250 years.
In the year 1344, Emperor Cyriax, the new young despot, began a campaign of expansion over all the western kingdoms. Region after region fell, and the Empire grew to the largest it has ever grown since its inception. After 15 years of conquest, the entire landmass of the west and as far east as the Soltani Plains were under Empire control. The Emperor's sights would not stop there, however...Ferrus, a mighty city in its own right, was next on his list...
