Grand Strike

Prince Grand Strike (a.k.a. Lightning Strike)

Grand Strike fled his homeland after he caught wind of the threat of an assassination plot led by his mother. She did not want him to take the throne due to his love for an Earth Pony mare, and thus possible Earth Pony inheritors of the Pegasopolis throne. 
Grand Strike and his pregnant wife settled in Salt Lick City, where they raised their son away from their former lives. After his wife died in childbirth, Lightning Strike did his best to love and care for his children as a single father. 
Ultimately, Lightning Strike died valiantly, saving Salt Lick from a tornado that was set to hit the town directly. A statue was erected in his honor that stands to present day.
