Overview:
The Dominion of Jarl is an island settlement that is inhabited almost exclusively by warlocks. It's land is divided amungst five guilds that each represent a different warlock patron.
History:
The Dominion of Jarl was first founded by a group of elvish warlocks hailing from
Arbec Vi. The group, led by an elf named
Aegnor Gildor, travelled to
Bethos with two goals; preserving the land from war as much as possible and studying the ancint magic found within the old kingdom. Upon arriving and seeing the mainland had already engulfed in war, the group decided to travel to an island in Bethos' bay. They visited multiple islands before discovering one with an ancient temple on it. Upon learning it was the ancient
Temple of Dihn, the group decided to make their settlement on the island and declared it the Dominion of Jarl.
For some time, the only residents of the Dominion of Jarl were elvish warlocks that had travelled from
Arbec Vi. This was until a gnomish warlock named
Hula Balu came to the island seeking a place to teach his students and also study his patron,
The Fathomless Beast. He was able to impress the elves with his magic and was given a section of the island to teach and study on. From this day forward,
Hula Balu's district would be referred to as the Guild of Piscarilius and the elve's district would be known as the Guild of the Hosideus. Over time, three other guilds would form, with each representing a different warlock patron. These were the Guild of Lovakengj representing fiend patrons, the Guild of Shayzien representing hexblade patrons, and the Guild of Arceuus representing an undead patron.
A sixth guild was almost formed when a warlock named
Damatsu came to the Dominion of Jarl. Damastu had travelled to the island claiming he wanted to make a new guild that represented genie patrons. However, this plan fell apart when
Damatsu was caught studying forbidden magic in the
Temple of Dihn by the previous head of the Guild of Lovakengj, Troy Nashor. In an attempt to escape punishment,
Damatsu killed Troy Nashor and went into hiding.
After the events of session 3, the Dominion of Jarl joined an alliance with the
Region of Vei'on. This alliance is actually with the party, however, since the party is alligned with the
Region of Vei'on so is the Dominion of Jarl.
Diplomacy:
The Dominion of Jarl is overseen by a council of elders that consists of the leaders of the five guilds. When decisions that affect multiple guilds must be made, a vote will occur between the five elders. Majority vote wins and all guilds must abide by the results.
