Orela
The continent of Orela lies south the Thviscan and Kelta lands of Kreta, and stretch south through plains, jungles, mountains. Three civilizations claim dominion of some form in these lands: The recently independent human kingdom of Svain, the thousand goblin clans of Escabla, and the ancient halfling city of heaven, Xianlian. In addition, the gnomish nations of Maibusi and Tuebeta hold an influential position on the continent, but remain aloof to outside concerns.
Realms of Orela
The following nations are considered the dominant civilizations on the continent, whether it be through diplomacy, military, or economic influence.Kingdom of Svain
Svain is a young nation, having declared independence from the Turathi some 300 years ago in an alliance with Arkhosia. At the time, they were small, proud, and united. Now however, without a singular enemy, they have suffered much the same, descended into decadence, inequality, and vain ambition. However, there are also noble souls among them, chief being the reigning queen, her royal arcanists, and a slew of younger citizens who see pride and glory in a dawning age of reason, invention, and discovery. Svain is currently the dominant power in the region, and is embroiled in skirmishes with the escabla along its northern frontier. Relations with Xianlian are cold – the two nations have grow weary of diplomatic aspirations, and some whisper of a rekindling of hostile relations not seen in over 200 years.Shattered Warrens of Escabla
The Escabla clans have existed for many thousand years in the continent, however they have never stood at the precipice of dominance. Recently, several warlords have risen to power, and have had success martialing disparate groups together under one purpose. These leader’s a mystery, but is a cause to concern for all nearby who have opposed the Escabla for a centuries.Harmonious Kingdom of Xianlian
The Harmonious Kingdom of Xianlian is perhaps one of the oldest in the world, with dynasties spanning half a millenia, and a culture that has stood firm against invading armies, natural disaster, titanic beasts, and internal treachery. They are the epitome of civilization and order, yet are also a beacon of beauty and serenity. Only recently has turmoil grown, as new knowledge seeks to undermine centuries of tradition, and the foundations of Xianlian begin to shift under its weight.Maibusi Sultanate
The gnomish nation of Maibusi is a reclusive enclave of a few small cities scattered throughout the northern jungles and forests. Warded by powerful illusions, their cities have remained hidden from Escabla territorial expanse. Whilst unable to expand or repel the goblin threat, they're enclaves remain protected, and only rarely visited from the outside.Teubetan Conclaves
The Teubeta, likewise, remain unaffected by foreign aggression. Where the Maibusi rely on mirage and misdirection, the Teubeta rely on inhospitable terrain, and quiet toughness.
