The Singing Bridge Functioning
Overview
The Singing Span is the name given to the Eastern Bridge directly out of Pavis. The bridge is one of the largest on the continent - said to contain as much material and 30 normal bridges in it's construction and being large enough to bear the weight of both houses, inns and full city wall towers along it's breadth. The Song of the Bridge
As people cross the bridge they will note the harmonious tune of the bridge's song being sung in Round fashion - this is said to drive some inhabitants of the bridge insane - whilst others simply drown the sound out with activity. The song is said to be a repair tune that the stones themselves sing - and it allows the bridge to not only repair itself but to actually grow bigger over time - however this last element is hotly debated by everyone - even the bridge inhabitants.Lon Don's Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down,
Lon Don's Bridge is falling down, My Fair Lady (Pavia)

Build it up with Iron Bars, Iron Bars, Iron Bars, My Fair Lady.
It is said that the more the bridge building song is sung by others, the more the bridge's power grows.
Bridge Purpose
The Bridge does not only bridge the gap over the Pavia/Pavis River - but also acts as the Northern Most barrier for the Limnades (Λιμνάδες) who guards the lake and mouth of the river as it passes Pavis called Pavia.Pavia is the daughter of Poseidon by an unknown Naiad, and she serves as the protector of the lake. Through her power the lake remains in pristine condition, and she is able to stop any ship carrying items that would cause harm to an Atlantean or to her father Poseidon. The inhabitants around the lake recognise this and Dwarven magical items are sometimes sacrificed to her - as is olive oil, and honey. It is said some travelers cast gold coins into the water as they pass over the bridge as a token of thanks to the lake goddess.
Bridgeton
The Bridge has a small but burgeoning black market township starting up. This is overlooked by the Bridge Authorities and Bridge Castellan as the Limnade protector of the lake has effectively cut off 90% of illicit trade that could take place through her 100% knowledge of all events on her waters. The inhabitants are said to be partly controlled by the Bridgeton Beggars - some calling them the Bridge Bandits but which Guild or group they have fealty to is unknown. All that is known is that travelers on the bridge must take care as they cross - especially during bad weather or when there is an emergency afoot in the town - somehow the Bridgeton folk always know when there is trouble.
History
The Bridge was built by a Half-Elf named Lon Don of the Lake, with the aid of the Fair Lady of the Lake, otherwise known as Pavia. In some stories, Lon was a Bard, turned Architect, in other versions he was the lover of Pavia, and she was known to have given him a Sword from the centre of the lake itself.
