Sofia Vasari is a young daughter of the Vasari Family, who has recently set off to help her family's business. She was assisting the Vasari matriarch in Moonstone, where the Vasari Family has little influence compared to many of the other families, but she found that many of the deals and arrangements she made with the People of Sun and River and Moonstone on behalf of her family were not arriving in Beryl. She has the go ahead for her family, particularly her second cousin, Salonia, who is the first child of the Vasari and acting head of their family, to hire mercenaries at her discretion to deal with this problem.
