The War Against the Shadowlord - The Jungles of Kar'ack

The Empress sends her Iron Legions to the Great Scar to eliminate the Shadowlord a little over two decades after his armies had been driven from the field at the Battle of Rose in the Crystal Mother's Forest. This campaign took five years and ended with the annihilation of the Shadowlord and the annexation of Scarmouth by the Iron Empire.

The Empress, learning that the Shadowlord had retreated from the Crystal Mother's Forest after his defeat twenty two years prior to establish a kingdom along the Great Scar, sent her Legions to the Jungle of Kar'ack and had her Navy blockade the port of Scarmouth to starve the Shadowlord's kingdom. The war dragged on as the Shadowlord's sorcery proved a match even for that of the two Chosen sent to lead, leading to a long and protracted siege.   The turning point of the siege was when the Empress herself arrived on the battlefield and broke the sea walls of Scarmouth, causing the entire city to be submerged beneath the waves. The Shadowlord had been forced to retreat from the sinking city further up the Scar. He was finally defeated five months later, when he was brought to the Empress and publicly torn limb from limb, his head burned in a great bonfire along with many of the dead soldiers he had raised.   The following months were spent eradicating every last hold the Shadowlord had, before the Empress officially annexed Scarmouth, appointing the commander of one of the legions that had fought there as her Legate.
