Session 5

General Summary

1st Day of Julista, 1762 AC

The party along with Penorius Longshaft headed to meet up with Sir Lorne Pellstrike of the Broadmoor Legion to learn more about this recently uncovered Alessian Ruin. From Lorne, they found out the ruin had been only recently uncovered and by a group that was not conducting the excavation under normal means. Instead of petitioning and contracting through Perfume Bay, the entities responsible did the work incognito. The party takes Penorius into the ruin to find what's inside and who might be the culprits.
Inside the ruin the party finds strange creatures and dead bodies. The strange creatures hover above the ground and are obviously "otherworldly". Yet, the party strikes them down and allows for Penorius to conduct his audit. Inside they find a few interesting items including a religious book that mentions "Reshliaba".
In the lower reaches of the ruin, the party finds more dead bodies and another otherworldly creature. After striking it down, the party finds a bit more evidence of what the original group was doing, and what happened to them. There was a vault containing a now missing artifact, and it was obviously the team opened the vault and was attacked by the creatures. While the protected artifact was gone, the party did find a few very interesting items, including three Alessian books written with a cypher and magical object that contained a starmap. The most mysterious thing in the vault was a perplexing "crack" in the air, which burned hot and gave off magical energy. The party eventually stumbled upon evidence the artifact had been moved to an abandoned sawmill not too far from the ruins, and made the decision to pursue the object.
The party was ambushed exiting the ruin but was able to best their foes. From one of the captives, they learned he and the other merc's were hired by a man named Zidayne and how he wanted to pass the artifact off to his "lady" and was currently awaiting her arrival. The party ventured off to the sawmill, took down Zidayne and his men, and retrieved the object. The object was seemingly ebony, gave off a magically energy and burned hot like the "crack" did in the vault. On Zidayne's body, they found he was wearing an artifact with the same iconography they found on the cultists back in Session 1 .  The party decided to head back to pick up Penorious and head back to Perfume Bay . It was certainly more than they had bargained for.
