Duties of the Clerics of Fodla

Clerics are responsible for helping communities have good harvests, running local relief efforts, and for holding several festival days that are meant to ensure prosperous fields and families.   Fodla’s clerics should reject egregious wealth and hold to simple values of good food, family, and companionship.

Major Areas of Worship

Fodla is worshiped heavily in agrarian countries like Patlov and parts of Montaigne but temples to her are found throughout Terranon. Everyone eats and has families after all.  

Holidays

The Great Sowing
Held in early spring on the First of May, this day is traditionally when festivals are held to bless the fields of farmers, gardens, and is considered an auspicious day for weddings and romantic liaisons.   The Final Harvest
Held on the first of October, this is considered the final day of the main harvest season. While the Sowing is celebratory, the Harvest is a more muted affair. While still a celebration, it is mindful that winter is coming and is a time of plenty but also reflection.

Priesthood

Head of the Church

Colin Cardin, a male halfling, is the head priest of the Temple of Fodla in Novandria   Fodla’s temple is located well outside the boundaries of the city proper. The temple has an associated garden and small house where Colin resides. There is no overarching head of the temple for Fodla, each temple using its resources to help its local people and communities.   The temple in Novandria is known as the Temple of the Bountiful Harvest.  

Organization of the Church

Fodla’s priesthood forms loose communities in a given area. Each cleric holds the same ranks as the others with an annual selection of a community leader to organize harvest, donations, and worship for the coming year.  

Clothing

The clerics wear simple linen clothes - dresses, tunics, and trousers, in earthy colors often accented with a brighter color (orange, purple, yellow,etc) Each cleric has a torc of woven willow or other similar natural material.  

Typical Followers

While Fodla is popular amongst farmers, she has a wide following from rural countryside to domestic servants and housewives trying to keep a good home

 In addition to blessing fields and farmers, many Temples of Fodla also maintain orphanages although in the modern, civilized world some of these get overwhelmed as well.
