N'Maernthor (nuh-MAYRN-thor)
The underground city of N'Maernthor (an Elven name meaning "Hidden Homeland") is the ruins of the ancient capitol of Avalon. No one is quite sure what happened during that ancient age, but the myths say that the Wizard King of Avalon sought immortality and angered the gods, causing them to collapse the city and bury it beneath the rocks. Few survived, and no records exist from that time, leaving it a mystery that begs to be solved. The royal family, and several High Nobles, regularly finance expeditions below the now-rebuilt city of Ilnesaira, hoping to unearth the secrets of the past.
