Kallark Blackdragon
Praetor Kallark Blackdragon (a.k.a. The Gladiator)
The leader of the Imperial Guard was once known as Kallark Sand, a bastard of Tev. Very little is known of his early life, until he'd risen to the rank of Captain and saved the life of the former Emperor, Aerys VIII, from assassins. Three members of the Imperial Guard had been slain in the process. The Emperor was so pleased with his savior, that he placed him on the Guard and removed the surname of Sand and gave him the honorary name of "Blackdragon."
Soon after his promotion, Kalark and his team was captured and placed in illegal gladiatorial rings in Cairn, and forced to fight strange beasts and each other. Again, Kallark survived the encounter and gained the moniker of "The Gladiator."
The Gladiator was primarily tasked with the defense of the Empress, Lilandra Gardener. Some rumors hinted that Lilandra desired the handsome guard, however, nobody suspected Kallark capable of doing something as dishonorable as to reciprocate. When Lilandra gave birth to Jhaerys Arcadia, Kallark was retasked as the young prince's protector.
When the former Praetor, Tenden Kenning, died in battle, Kallark was the natural choice for the next Praetor. Since the coronation of Jhaerys, Kallark has been a constant presence. Jhaerys views Kallark as one of his parental figures and is quite attached to him. Kallark is a stoic man and is widely regarded as one of the most noble and honorable men in the Empire. He is known for his complete lack of sense of humor, keen tactical mind, and ineptitude in politics. Kallark is loyal to a fault and this has been used against him and the Imperial family on rare occasions.
