Seljuk

The Mighty

Seljuk the Mighty was once a warmonger in the Old World that took control over the central region by force, founding the Seljuk Empire, which at time was named the Ottan Kingdom. Seljuk was interested in many things, especially magic and games, and had many wizards at his court. One day he wished to visit the Planes. The spell didn't work as planned and Seljuk disappeared, which in turn started a civil war for succession. The conquer instead survived the ordeal and found himself traveling the Planes alone. The legends say after many years of harsh journey, he found himself in the Fable Realm, where he met Lord Gensha. Thirsty and hungry, he was met with hospitality and found a place he could have called home. However, Seljuk wanted to go back to his people as he worried that some might start a war and he might not be there to stop it. Lord Gensha did not see it that way, the man should stay as this is for the best. Furious, Seljuk tried to fight the Source Being but failed miserably. Instead, he devised a plan, he would win over the creature with his wits alone. He would offer Lord Gensha games, each one unique for his release and teleportation. The being agreed but Seljuk would have to do so once every day for one thousand and one days, only then he would be allowed to leave. Seljuk was at an impasse and had to agree. He couldn't think of more than a hundred games, so using his wits, he used the being's words against him. The wording of the bet was different, the games need not be completely unique, this allowed Seljuk to come up with many variations in style and gameplay to "fool" Lord Gensha. Who, of course, saw through the deceit, however, he did find the games amusing as well as the mortal's companionship. Seljuk was transported back with a "gift" from Lord Gensha. The warlord on return saw destruction and famine, he could not allow his country to fall. Once again reunited his loyal men, killed the traitors and rebels, and rebuilt the country in nine years, nine months, and nine days. Over the course of the campaign, he would tell many stories about his travels, what he saw, and what he did. Much of the reconstructed architecture would be inspired by the Fable Realm, thus creating the Seljuk Empire. What the man didn't know is that his gift went with him and was shared amongst his people, changing the humans of the Old World into the Seljuks of today. The king died peacefully, a happy end.
