The Glacialsteel Conflict

A bit over one hundred years ago, the rare material of Glacialsteel was discovered by some explorers from Valdon. They weren't quite sure what it was, but once it was figured out what the material could do the news spread like wildfire throughout the lands.
However these news spread to intelligent monsters as well that wanted to obtain some rare materials for themself, and the archdevil Maelzar managed to pick up the rumor about this and sent his spies to investigate. Once the rumor was confirmed to be true, he set out to obtain glacialsteel for himself. His plan was to completely subjegate the city and take all the material for himself.
To get help from creatures in the area, Maelzar used his diplomatic prowess to forge an alliance with ice trolls, a cruel monstrous race that had qualms with the Knights of the Everfrost from previous battles over hundreds of years.
The two forces, trolls and devils began another siege of Valdon, with the cunning Maelzar at the helm he used the trolls to attack the city while his own minions were using large weapons to shoot objects into the city.
In response, the knights managed to do their first hammer & anvil attack which they had thought about using for a long time, with the infantry of the knights coming out and fighting the attackers head on, the Frosthoof Vanguard had snuck out the back of the city and attacked the army from the back. It was a devastating attack, which managed to deal enough damage to route both devil and trolls alike.
Like most battles and wars, a lot of lives were lost in total but the victory was celebrated by the citizens of Valdon like nothing else, and heroic and songs were written about the tales of the charge.
