The Blutmeister
Alvek Greytop, the Blutmeister, is chief guide, scholar, and warrior to the Sanguine Ascendancy.
After joining the Ascendancy in his relative youth, Alvek displayed many of the behaviors expected of a hot-headed young man, and dedicated himself to the martial aspects of hunting and studying monsters. While viewed as a master of the craft, his many scars, wounds, and the missing limbs suggest that his prowess only bore him so far into the maw of danger. These losses seemingly tempered and tamed his howling blood, shaping him into a formidable mind and an even deadlier hunter, his skill at trapping, harrowing, and slowly winnowing his prey becoming more and more unmatched as time wore on.
Eventually, though, as all things must, the eternal grinding of time's great gears took away much of his physical skill, but losing that only sharpened his mind, turning his focus to training and education. As he rose through the ranks of the Asendancy along both paths, he became synonymous with their image as grizzled, sharpened experts of methodically dismantling the things that bump in the night through knowledge and brute force.
When the previous Blutmeister, Torrent of the Knives, stepped down, Alvek was considered the obvious choice. He took the mantle with much hesitancy, but has held the position proudly for some 15 years. Now approaching his 70th year, his sharp, unyielding gaze has begun the search for a successor, but scant few seem to please his high, strict standard.
