In a flash of light more intense than any other, the universe came into existence. This event is known as the Spark. It is responsible for the release of all energy into The Aetherstream that has ever been and ever will be.

After millions of years of floating around at high speeds, The Aetherstream had finally thinned out enough to begin the process of Crystallization. This resulted in the formation of the first celestial bodies which had become so large due to the high availablity of energy within The Aetherstream that they quickly became stars.
Even after the formation of the first stars, Crystallization coninued expanding existing celestial bodies and forming new ones. Due to their random distribution throughout The Aether, some were spoiled while others were starved. The spoiled ones became so massive that they turned into black holes. The starved ones didn't even have enough mass to become stars; they became planets, commets, and asteroids.
The massive gravitational force exerted by the black holes that had formed have become great enough for stars to begin orbiting them as they drift away from the origin. Thus the first galaxies were formed.
Having drifted away from much of the chaos at the origin, planets suitably far from their respective star(s) began to form life that took various primative forms, mostly single-celled with a dash of simple multi-celled here and there.
After years of evolution through natural selection, sentient life had finally formed on a few planets many lightyears apart.
It took a few billion years, but lifeforms intelligent enough to devise methods of traveling through The Aether had finally formed and realized their potential.
