Lingering Threats

An Incomplete Litany of Threats Still Out There

Of Auredain

Who Was Behind The Caravan Ambush?--During our Companions first steps on the trail north they assisted two merchants by tracking and slaying a goblin tribe. But something large had removed the treasure box before you got there... And did you forget all about the door with the webs that you ran away from?
The Secret of Red Sand?--Recovered from the goblin raiders lair, Rhys informed the Companions that it was a new and potent addictive narcotic that was growing in demand in Auredain. According to the wily rogue, the only known source for it was Gravel Gang in Heraldsport and it was fueling their rise in the capital's underworld. Where do they get it?

An Unknown Elderwrath Cult, a gathering of worshipers to the Nameless Ones and they disappeared without a trace left behind... or did they? Rhys had a clue--a signet ring with an emblem bearing foxes. Upon his departure, he promised to look into it. And since we're talking about that creepy ruin, what were those horrible things that made the Companions retreat at the stone portal? What were they guarding? Now that the ruins have been sealed up by the Church--is whatever was behind that portal contained?

Who Is THE KING OF STONE--an unknown entity that is linked to attacks on merchants and travelers along the Hyena Road and the border of Auredain. The Mercators Guild has placed a sizable bounty for anyone identifying and locating this so-called King.

Cantos and the Slavery Ring-Although slavery is illegal in AUREDAIN, it still exists elsewhere especially where laws and morals cease to exist. There is a man named Cantos who purchases the victims of raids and attacks on AUREDAIN from submen and other blackguards including Temo's Bastards. Where this slaver takes these poor souls and whether he has any connection to the Chainers Guild is unknown.

In The Sallow Hills

THE BARROW, entombed within a barrow-mound in the Sallow Hills is an undead being of eldritch danger. Our Companions managed to flee after destroying its barrow attendants entombed with it but did not like their chances against the being itself.

Signs of Patrolling Beastmen--The Companions witnessed patrols of beast-riding submen. They seemed to be patrolling a particular area and did not stray far even when investigating signs of the Companions presence in the Hills. Were the rumors and fears of submen gathering in the Hills true? What does that portend for Dyramar Keep?
