The Annihilation of Tratore

Starrite was - and is - a volatile substance. Able to give one with the weakest connection to the Flow-Weave the power of an arch-magi with 100 years of experience. As exciting as it may sound, the implications it wrought soon revealed themselves to the people of the Ashen Land.   A warm summer day, early in the Grand Age. A young boy by the name of Josiah found himself upon a handful of Starrite while playing in a river that flowed through the nearbyu city of Tratore. Having heard the legends that surrounded the powerful mineral, he tried his hand at an incantation he had heard the local wizard use - light. Within an instance, a searing light found itself blooming in the sky above Tratore. Growing every brighter, the orb engulfed Tratore and the surrounding hillside. A moment later, it subsided, leaving only a crater.   It is said, or hoped, that Josiah felt no pain. And that maybe, yet again hoped, that he had a stronger connection to the Flow-Weave than thought. If only to ease the minds of the commonfolk worried that anyone, at anytime, may replicate this calamity.
