The Meleatte Desert, sometimes known as the Great Desert or the Aradin Desert, is a vast, dry expanse which is found between the coast of the Western Sea and the Ranad Mountains. It is split down the middle by the Meleatte River for which it is named. The desert is known for its large sand dunes, rock formations and buried tombs belonging to long dead Dynasty Kings. Most famous of these is the ruined City of the Dead which has housed the remains of numerous monarchs and is protected by the infamous Deathguard.

Wildlife

The Meleatte Desert, although almost entirely inhospitable, harbors some life. Often, this is in the form of insects such as scorpions, locusts and scarabs. Reptiles are also common, particularly snakes, contrasted by the rarely seen sartans. The only significantly large animal in the desert are camels who cross it going back and forth between valleys of the Ranad Mountains and the grassy banks of the Meleatte River.
