Zabias

"Of the kinds of wood to be used in the construction of a lor... the zabia, with its light and yet remarkably sturdy consistency, is a perfect material for such crafting."
— Ored the Exile
A species of tree native to Arad and found almost exclusively in the Ranad Mountains, the zabia is famous for its orange-red colored wood and grey bark as well as its usefulness in construction on account of its durability and low weight.

Appearance

Relatively small, zabias have straight, thick and short trunks covered in grey, rough bark. Their root systems extend a great distance and are stronger and tougher than those of most trees on account of zabias needing to grow in rocky environments, often without entirely solid foundations. Their branches extend no further than an arms lengths, splitting twice or thrice each, with small, dark green leaves that become a pale yellow in the dry season. Notably, the wood of the zabia is a vibrant red-orange color which makes its use in construction obvious.
Lifespan
~130 years
