Grand Artificer of Aekminur Azuba Mary Abbot (a.k.a. Gunpowder Girl)

The inventor of the first firearms; Azuba was born and raised in the city of Aekminur and grew up learning how to maintain and operate the city's heating system. In 82 AG, Azuba experimented to test the fire resistance of a red dragon scale, specifically to see if there was any amount of heat that could burn it. Eventually, she discovered that after being exposed to constant heat for around a year and then met with something cold (ice could suffice) it would become black and brittle. If ground properly, these burnt scales could become a highly explosive powder that could be used for especially powerful explosives, but most important to her: the flintlock.
Azuba was the most adventurous scientist in her field, having enough courage to take part in the most dangerous experiments and adventures to further Aekminur's advances in technology. This would lead her to use her invention of the flintlock on these adventures, solidifying a name for herself in Aekminur's Hall of Adventurers and Explorers.

Secret Recipe

The grinding process of the dragon scale requires special steps and materials to be made properly into gunpowder. Azuba refused to reveal these requirements until the early 100s when she gave it to a friend in Aethos so he could manufacture her weapons at a larger rate, allowing them to be more available to people around Great Eethill.

Campaign 1: Fate's Warriors

During the events of Fate's Warriors (99 AG), Azuba was in a brief marriage with a man named David Chittenden and ran a shop called the Laughing Skull. The members of Fate's Bane would visit the shop a few times while in Aekminur, Corrin of which had commissioned Azuba to create the firearm-transforming-prosthetic he would during their adventures.
She would eventually split up with her husband and leave the shop with a trusted apprentice who continued to run it. Azuba would travel the world outside of Aekminur and the basin during this time, looking for new magics created by fate's light.
