Dragonborn

Dragons are constructs made to be vessels for gods without material bodies, during their creation Tiamat gave them artificial souls and used them as an army to invade the Mortal Realm. Because of the artificial souls' highly unstable magic, it would change the environment around the dragons (such as a Red Dragon accidentally turning a mountain lair into an active volcano). One result of this is turning dragon worshipers who would tend to their masters into dragonborns.

Draconic Exposure

How much a worshiper would be transformed differs from case to case usually resulting in how much exposure to the dragon they got. Villagers who would make in-person tributes and therefore would have little exposure would have little mutation such as a couple of scales, while the most loyal of worshipers who would have a lot of exposure would become Half-Dragons.

Dragonborn Children

When a Dragonborn has a child, only a fraction of their mutation is passed down, which would mean even if an Elf were to turn into a Half-Dragon, their child would look like an elf with a couple of draconic features. For this reason, Dragonborn numbers are rapidly decreasing and will eventually become extinct. Sorcerers with draconic blood probably have a long-forgotten Dragonborn ancestor.

Dragonborn Cults

Though many dragons were either killed or sealed into vaults by the end of Tiamat's Reign in the Mortal Realm, some of their cults have survived and strive to maintain a bloodline of Dragonborns in honor of their defeated gods. These cults hide in remote areas away from other settlements and usually keep to themselves until they believe themselves to be strong enough to reclaim what their masters had lost and bring back Tiamat's Reign.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Origin/Ancestry
Draocinic
Lifespan
Around two centeries (see notes)
Average Height
5' 9" - 6' 3"
Average Weight
224 lbs.
Notes: In reference to the average lifespan, this is if the Dragonborn has mutated to the point where their original race can no longer be identified through physical observation. Otherwise, the Dragonborn will most likely live around the same length of time as their original race perhaps even a little longer.
