Moramite Fellfolk
Families are considered to be entire clans, not just parents and children. When children are born they spend most of their time in their clan's creche until they are able to join the adults in minor tasks. Some clans have dedicated caretakers while others rotate the responsibility. One thing all clans do is have the elders come in to pass along their knowledge and skills. Caretakers teach the children various crafts so to instill in them the work ethic all Fellfolk share. Everyone must do their part and if anyone slacks off, all suffer. Once adults are done with their daily tasks they return to their clan's dwellings and meet up with the children. Meals are shared communally with the entire clan and are a way for everyone to socialize, catching up on the day's events. Parenting is something the entire clan takes part in, not just the biological parents. Fellfolk are divided into clans based around the original founders of New Moram. The clans developed around these founders naturally as extensions of their family and work groups. Each clan is lead by a chief, usually a descendant of the founder, and is supported by a council of clan elders. The city's Council of Chiefs allows two representatives from each clan, their chief and their second who can act in place of the chief should they be unable to attend the meeting. There are Eight major clans in all.
