Twilight District
Background:
The Twilight District resides underneath Avar in four large primordial cave systems that have their own entire ecosystem comprised of plants and animals that have evolved to thrive in the darkness. Within this ecosystem lives a secret society known as the Syndicate of Spiders comprised of thieves, murderers, and other criminals that are currently wanted on the surface by the City Watch. The most popular and used commodity is the Black Market which buys and sells any and all illegal goods flowing through Avar and the Nest which gives out contracts to those looking for work.
Description:
The cavernous and intricate cave system in which the Twilight District was built inside has a ceiling over 300ft tall with stalagmites dotting the ceiling and covered in glowing beetles which is where the name for the district originated. On the floor grows primordial trees, shrubs, and giant mushrooms surrounding natural water sources and large mounds of spiked rocks; remains of extinct creatures dot the cave floor and have become fossilized. Within the clearing of these mushroom forests, housing and special buildings have been placed creating a underground city dispersed through multiple cave systems.
Within the deep caves there lies a realm of monsters. Even with great effort from the Syndicate and hired mercenaries, areas within the cave are still extremely dangerous.
