Anice Linden-Law
Anice Linden-Law is a 40 something queer woman who moved to the island as teenager to live with her aunt Beitris Law-Howe, her father’s younger sister who is only some 15 years older than Anice.
Her parents are anthropologists, researchers and academics who in their youth enjoyed enthusiastically dragging their small daughter around the world to various places with them. But once Anice was around ten she began to resent never being in one place for very long and not making any friends, so having made friends over repeated summer visits to the island and fascinated by magic of The Fae and the local rituals, ended up voting with feet one summer and staying put with her father’s young widowed sister, who had settled on the island from the mainland after meeting a man who then returned to live in a deceased uncle's home.
Sadly, there was a storm and Beitris’s husband Eugen Howe’s boat was lost at sea. Without any children, and windowed young, Anice’s mother and father gave in and allowed the young Anice the freedom to live with her. The two women are actually incredibly close and enjoy a good if somewhat mildly chaotic life together.
Anice is something of a people watcher and an intuitive and warm listener, who quite apart from anything else enjoys the quiet alongside the company of others.
A mender but also maker of things, turning her hand to repairs and organising things her dwelling is packed with assortments of stuff…
She really respects her friends and colleagues but her thinking is often the sort of outside the box stuff, she’ll fashion something out of something else if she believes it will service the need as much as might bristle some people who find her repurposing and use of modern tech in place of old slightly jarring.
Anice enjoys singing, and pretends she doesn’t like the attention, she’s not got a very good poker face she clearly LOVES the attention.
