Erin is a burnt out Mainland visitor who has spent most of her career teaching in the US school system, and decided she needs an escape.
She went to university with Olivia Sparrowhawk but lost touch with her shortly after, but has continued to follow Olivia on social media.
Erin showed up unexpectedly on Olivia's doorstep just before the storm started as if they were dear old friends.
