The Strife

At the of the Age of Creation, the archdeities had a disagreement about the upbringing of their daughter Dunyawal. The details of this disagreement are either unknown to or unknowable by mortals. In their first fight between them, the archeities killed Dunyawal, beginning the eternal conflict that mortals call The Strife.

The strife has pitted Nüm and Nal against one another, with Nor and Nax occasionally taking one side or the other. Nüm wishes to try to resurrect Dunyawal with the power of The Sun but Nal wants to give her eternal unlife with the power of The Void.

While the archdeities sometimes fight in their home planes, the bulk of The Strife occurs on Dunyawal's dead body, fought by the archdeities' mortal proxies. The gods cannot exist directly in Dunyawal but at great cost sometimes choose to manifest an avatar of themselves to accomplish great and important feats. More frequently, they cannel their divinity through mortals.
