Zur

The Hunting Eagle

Zur, god of the skies, is neutral. He is known as The Hunting Eagle. He has spent the Age of Mourning searching all over the earth for Dunyawal's lost soul, which he hopes to return to her. He made the Zura to help him do this. He also made a race of giant eagles to serve as his emissaries. He is associated with hope, animals, questing, and flight. He is always depicted as part eagle, part man, often carrying a long spear adorned with feathers near its tip.   Zur presides over the skies and embodies the of freedom. As the patron god of flight, Zur holds a deep connection with all winged creatures, from the smallest songbird to the mightiest roc. The Zura believe that Zur's divine breath is the wind under their feathers.

Patron of Seekers

Zur's followers, known as the Zephyrists, are a diverse group of individuals who revere the deity and strive to emulate the god's attributes. They come from various backgrounds and races, including many Zura but also many other limae who have a love of flight or the sky. The Zephyrists form holy communities that value harmony with nature, exploration, and the pursuit of knowledge.   Zur's teachings emphasize the importance of embracing one's natural abilities, embracing freedom, and seeking enlightenment through the beauty and wonder of flight. The Feathered Seekers often engage in rituals involving soaring rituals, where they ascend to high peaks or tall structures to experience a temporary communion with the divine essence of Zur.   Zur's influence extends beyond avian creatures, as the god's domain also encompasses the concepts of questing, discovery, and the pursuit of knowledge. Many explorers and scholars turn to Zur for guidance in their journeys, seeking the god's blessings to navigate the challenges they face, both in the physical realm and in the realms of the mind and spirit.   Temples dedicated to Zur are often situated in high, airy locations, such as mountaintops or tall spires. These sacred places serve as gathering points for Zephyrists, where they come to offer prayers, seek guidance, and commune with the divine presence of Zur. The architecture of Zur's temples often incorporates sweeping arcs and open spaces, allowing the wind to flow freely.   Zur protects those who show reverence to the natural world and exhibit a deep respect for the balance of nature. Farmers, rangers, and druids who hold an affinity for the wilderness often invoke Zur's name in their rituals, seeking the god's blessings for better weather, guidance in their guardianship of the land, and protection against threats that would disrupt the delicate equilibrium of nature.
