Song of Unmaking
Effects
The Song of Unmaking is a term referring to a group of different songs which all exhibit certain supernatural properties when played under the correct conditions. More specifically, these songs have the power to literally unmake certain beings if played correctly, removing them entirely from existence. While this makes the songs immensely powerful, it must also be understood that there are certain limitations. First and foremost, the songs are only effective against a certain type of being- those most closely related to Tolkien himself. This category includes Allah, Colin Tom Bombadil, and their respective Archangels. The reason that the Song of Unmaking is effective against these beings and not others is not entirely clear, although it seems to derive from a property of Tolkien himself. Because Tolkien's sons are created in his own image, they possess this property as well. By extension, the Archangels are created in the image of their respective god and thus also possess this property. Other beings, being made in the image of things found in the Lord of the Rings, are fundamentally different and thus are immune from the Song of Unmaking. The second limitation on the Song of Unmaking is the fact that each individual song only affects a single being. That is to say that playing Allah's song would have no affect on Colin, and vice versa. It is believed that each song somehow fundamentally describes the being it is to be used against, hence each individual has a unique song. Thirdly, it is important to note that the Song must be played under the right conditions. Two major conditions must be fulfilled for the song to be effective. First, the target must be near the one playing the song. Second, the song must have the power to penetrate the target's body- power which requires extremely good acoustics. As such, it is impossible to use the song unless it is played in a location with very good acoustics. Finally, there is the matter of power. This one is tricky to explain, but to make it as simple as possible- the song requires a certain degree of 'magical power' in the user to be effective. That is to say, if a regular human were to try and unmake Tolkien, it would not be effective no matter if that person fulfilled all the other requirements, simply because that person lacks the 'power' behind his song to actually take Tolkien down. It is important that the player of the song have access to sufficient power to back their song in order for it to be effective. Killing an Archangel at full power would require an extremely powerful mage, killing a Son of Tolkien would require multiple gods at least, and it is unlikely that even the entire combined energy of the universe as a whole would be able to unmake Tolkien himself.History
The Song of Unmaking has been used on only a few occasions throughout history. The first recorded use was by Randalthor Dragon to destroy Muhammad during the Battle of Mecca. Randalthor Dragon took advantage of the Kabba and its extremely powerful acoustics to accomplish this after having already defeated Muhammad in a more mundane duel. It is also believed that Mike Z used the Song on his brother Mike O, although this remains unconfirmed.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
