The Isle That Time Forgot
History
The Isle That Time Forgot is an ancient location, whose origins are shrouded in mystery. What is certain is that it has existed since at least the time of the dinosaurs in more or less the same state as it is now. During this period it was colonized by dinosaurs who presumably swam there, indicating it was near the shore. When the dinosaurs were killed by Allah, the island somehow survived the impact and the resultant shockwave. After this, the island continued on in a near stasis as its name would indicate. The native dinosaurs evolved somewhat, but ultimately remained largely the same. Other life existed on the island as well- birds, trees, and so forth, but it remained undiscovered by humans for the entirety of this period. After the Breaking of the World the island's location was abruptly moved, but unlike most of the rest of the planet it remained mostly unchanged apart from that. Its new position between Orrdor and Southsun made it much easier to find, however, and at some point in the past a crew of pirates stumbled across it. Most of them were eaten by the dinosaurs in short order, but a few managed to survive longer. These survivors fled inland and built a village where they lived for a few years and buried all their treasure. The dinosaurs were ever present, however, and as time passed more and more of the pirates were killed. Eventually only one remained. This last pirate was wounded in a dinosaur attack and, knowing that his wounds were fatal, used his last words to lay a curse on the island. Being a pirate, his curse contained powerful magic. From that point on, any who died on the island would return as ghosts, trapped there for eternity. Another pirate ship showed up later and were all killed. They rose again and became the first ghosts on the island. One of them, being angry at his fate, put a curse on all the gold that the first pirates had buried. Interestingly, this curse had the exact same effect as the first curse. Because of these two curses, the ghost population of the island steadily increased, being comprised mostly of stranded pirates. While knowledge of the island was never common knowledge, over time the tales told by those who escaped the curse and returned home did become legends, often told around the campfire or in bars. It is from these legends that the island gets its name. Eventually, a crew of norn pirates crashed into the island. Most of them were killed on impact including Bonzo the ship's resident clown and were subsequently turned into ghosts. The ship's captain and first mate- Bardbeard and Tyrese(person), respectively- survived, however, and went on to put many ghosts to rest by shooting and stabbing them. They eventually found an old, abandoned pirate ship and used it to escape. Nothing is known of the island's fate after this event.Geography
The Isle That Time Forgot is not large, about ten square miles in all. With the exception of the beaches, the entire island is covered in thick jungle made up of ancient trees similar in appearance to palm trees. The shoreline is ragged, scattered with stone arches that jut out into the sea as much as a hundred feet, creating a large number of protected bays that are perfect for docking ships. Near the center of the island are some overgrown ruins, the last remnants of the first and last attempted settlement of the island. The dinosaurs generally avoid this area as it is the most thickly populated with ghosts.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
