The Fungeon

The Fungeon was a pay-to-play dungeon, located on a planetoid called Norecha in the Arm of Asar in the Cascade. Once advertising itself as "the Cascade's Premiere Simulated Dungeon Experience," the Fungeon operated until 612 CPC, but was then abandoned.

Structure

  The Fungeon consisted of:
  • A main lobby., which included a front desk / ticket booth, a small cafe, and access to the three simulated dungeons.
  • The d4 Dungeon, a two-room microdungeon with puzzles and combat designed for new adventurers.
  • The d8 Dungeon, a larger and more complex dungeon.
  • The d20 Dungeon, the most complex and potentially dangerous of the three simulated dungeons.

Operations

While the Fungeon employed several full-time staff in addition to its dungeon denizens, many of its systems were automated.
  • Entrance to each dungeon was coin-operated, and cost an amount of gold per person equal to the level of the dungeon (e.g., 4 GP for the D4 Dungeon, etc.)
  • The puzzles and creatures inside the dungeon carried no actual treasure or gold for insurance purposes. Instead, small devices were placed around the dungeons, which would provide tickets as prizes when puzzles were solved or battles won. These tickets could be used back in the main lobby to claim prizes.
  • In the main lobby of the Fungeon, the patented Prize-O-Matic machine awaited successful adventurers. Tickets won from solving dungeon mysteries or combat could be fed into the Prize-O-Matic, and the winners could then select from a series of prizes by pressing the appropriate buttons. The last known set of prizes available in the Fungeon lobby were:
  •

Other Events

On 4 Illyrie 657, the Pilgrim of Saila crashed on Norecha, and into the Fungeon itself, causing significant damage to the facility's lobby.
