Ghostwise
What have we become? Once our temples and our castles rose above the sky like dragons; we were a proud race, a proud culture, with our thousand gods and our thousand princes. Now we live beneath the aasimar's boot. We are lulled and prodded into complacency. But it is not enough. It can never be enough. The gallows speech of Pimchanok Amatasan, infamous Ghostwise insurrectionist.Usually referred to simply as 'ghostwise,' these are the only halfling race native to the East continent, and a significant racial minority in the Celestial Empire since its inception. They once had a large kingdom in the Empire's northwest, but it was conquered and dissolved early in Imperial history. According to Celestial racial hierarchies, Ghostwise are ranked below eladrin, but above humans, and they are afforded many privileges as a result. Ghostwise are smaller than any other race apart from goblins, who are approximately the same size. They have the same extensive range of skintones, hair colours, and eye colours as humans do. They are marked from Western halflings by their oversized eyes and six-fingered hands, a mutation that was lost in other subraces milennia ago but has persisted on the Eastern continent.
