Team Eight

Think of it this way: at least you have a gimmick now! This might actually make you more popular with the audience. Lean into the whole 'dad' thing. Just... make sure at least a couple of the kids survive? Team Eight's handler, Chakri, speaking to Linden after the first Gauntlet.

Team Eight is one of the surviving teams in The Gauntlet of Mercy. The team is a synthesis of two teams after the post-first-gauntlet reshuffle: Eighth-province sibling pair Linden and Lily, and the two surviving members of what was Team Two. The team is notable for only having one member over the age of fifteen, twenty-year-old Linden, who has three teenagers to contend with.

Linden

Race: Firbolg Caste: Steel Conviction: Perjury Linden is the eldest of the group. Sweet natured, if somewhat too trusting, Linden was turned into a tree in the first gauntlet and was only rescued by the intervention of Team Ten. He showed extraordinary kindness by gifting the team a healing potion in thanks, despite this causing him to take a minor penalty. He is extremely protective of Lily and relatively easy going, although having Pinpin and Mewmew to watch over often tries his patience. Linden has some druidic magic, as he was seen transforming into a bear in the first gauntlet. He almost died at the end of the second gauntlet and was forced to undergo an amputation so that the children could carry him out, leaving him with one arm.

Lily

Race: Firbolg Caste: Steel Conviction: Theft Lily is fifteen and the moody and somewhat standoffish younger sister of Linden. She seems just as protective of her older brother as he is of her, but she is far less willing to do other people favours, and she seemed very angry with Linden for taking a penalty out of gratefulness. She was willing to put up a fight to protect her brother while he was a tree, even though she was vastly outnumbered, showing some bravery and foolhardiness.

Pinpin Seventy-Second

Race: Ghostwise Caste: Steel Conviction: Theft Pinpin is a light-fingered ghostwise and one half of a pickpocketing duo with his confidant and best friend, Mewmew. Despite both of them being fourteen years old, they were able to successfully leave the first gauntlet due to the collecting efforts of their previous two teammates, who then died in combat, and by pickpocketing other teams for items. Pinpin in particular seems little interested in listening to Linden. He doesn't truly understand the gravity of the gauntlet, getting by on confidence and recklessness.

Mewmew

Race: Tabaxi Caste: Stone Conviction: Theft Pinpin's accomplice and best friend, the two were arrested together and stick together in the gauntlet. Mewmew is a little more cautious than Pinpin, but they're still extremely reckless, and they tend to let Pinpin take the lead on their plans. They have an extreme stutter and tend to stay quiet because of this. It became clear in the second round of the games that Mewmew has wild sorcery, which has acted unpredictably and has aided the group immeasurably in surviving the second gauntlet. However, their powers are chaotic and seem to only manifest in times of extreme stress.
