Sauna Station Duty

There are five jobs that prisoners may be given during station duty on Sauna.
  1. Housekeeping: General cleaning and disinfecting of the station.
  2. Processing: Conversion of station supplies to usable components.
  3. Inventory: Tracking of station inventory, including supplies and ore.
  4. Maintenance: Repair and upkeep of internal system machinery.
  5. Hull Patch: Repair and upkeep of the hull and external machinery.
Each job has two main skills associated with being successful at the task, and a third skill (labeled with a *) that may come useful when mischief is attempted. Usually, such opportunities only arrive if the prisoner finishes their task early, so prisoners are incentivized to work efficiently.

Housekeeping

Relevant Skills: Life Science, Medicine, Disguise*
Housekeeping usually involves cleaning the various public spaces in the Sauna, including the Mess Hall, equipment lockers, and hallways. While prisoners are under guard while housekeeping the employee-only areas (such as the Warden's entry hall), they are usually left to their own devices in other spaces.

Processing

Relevant Skills: Athletics, Piloting, Stealth*
Processing is the task of taking station supplies, such as protein chunks, station waste, and raw mining ore, and converting it into a usable component (e.g. protein sludge, recycled water, and processed ore). This is a physical job even when aided by the station machinery, and is not for the weak. While the guards watch prisoners while ore is being processed, they often step out during the recycling of station waste...

Inventory

Relevant Skills: Physical Science, Computers, Sleight of Hand*
Inventory is the cataloging and updating of station resources, and is assisted by the Sauna's pseudo-intelligence. While there is a potential for great reward on Inventory, these prisoners are highly monitored during and after station duty, and those caught smuggling are subject to a weekend on Varos.

Maintenance

Relevant Skills: Engineering, Mysticism, Bluff/Diplomacy/Intimidate*
Maintenance is the repair and upkeep of all prisoner-accessible systems. This includes the food dispenser in the Mess Hall, the station waste repositories, coolant systems, and low-security access mechanisms (such as the door between the equipment lockers and the station duty terminals). Similar to Housekeeping, Maintenance is often given their run of the prison (within reason). All maintenance work is checked by a Barathu engineer at the end of the day.

Hull Patch

Relevant Skills: Survival, Acrobatics, Perception*
Hull Patch involves a space walk around the outer perimeter of Sauna, in order to find and patch any damage to the station. It is the most dangerous job for prisoners on station duty, and is often given out as a light punishment from the Warden. Still, motivated prisoners often enjoy the freedom of space, and may relish at the opportunity to peek through some station windows.
