The Sauna
The Sauna was an organic prison owned by the Barathu, which orbited just outside the harmful atmosphere of Varos. However, the unbearable heat of the terrible moon radiated even into near space, giving the jail its affectionate name, and keeping the prisoners under a never-ending state of clammy existence. This created a hidden market for perfumes and soaps, which were smuggled in through visitors and new prisoners. Credsticks were considered worthless for anything but bribing the guards, which had so low a success rate that very few even tried.
Unsurprisingly, the prisoners were often a bitter folk, walking around half-naked in the common area, drenched with sweat and dirt from their many shifts on the surface of Varos. Mining crews were forced to bunk together after hours, which created small cliques in the indentured community. It was considered unwise to anger your bunk mates in the Sauna, as such unpopular individuals rarely returned from their next expedition.
The Barathu on the Sauna were unfazed by the heat, due to their bioengineering expertise and personal coolant systems. They held strict authority, and were known to banish prisoners to Varos without protection suits if they misbehaved.
The Sauna was destroyed by Mining Team 6 in 317 AG, who left behind an active military-grade nuclear warhead during their escape. The resulting explosion pulverized the satellite, and left a decent crater in the surface of Varos.
Secret Unlocked: The Portal in the Closet
Isra spotted a Window in the back of the Warden's closet when she arrived at the Sauna, which seems to lead to a manned research facility. The Warden was unaware of the portal's existence, despite the complete lack of illusions present, and the researchers did not notice Isra's gaze landing upon them. While a possible escape from the prison, the Warden's office was one of the most secure rooms on the station, as it required getting through three distinct security doors, and most of the guards' chambers.Secret Unlocked: The Warhead
On her first day in the bunks of Mining Team 6, Tesin Movahesh found a pin-locked nuclear warhead tucked inside the toilet tank, hidden from view by a psychic field of Lashunta design. After asking around, she learned that there were two Lashunta among the previous occupants of the bunk, but they were killed well before the founding of Mining Team 6. After breaking into the Confluence Agent stash on Sauna Station, Tesin found the original container for the warhead, and what appeared to be a slot for an accompanying tablet. After talking to Skiv, Mining Team 6 found that Skiv destroyed the tablet when he killed the previous Mining Team 4, who were conspiring to use the warhead for unknown reasons.
