Valhaven Territory

Geography

Valhaven, known colloquially as "The Navel," is a vast crater spanning approximately 158 miles in circumference. Despite its northern location, the crater enjoys mild weather conducive to farming, thanks to the natural protection afforded by its towering walls. Nestled within the heart of Valhaven is Sinos, a fortified city perched atop a mesa. Dominating the cityscape is the awe-inspiring Grand Ediface of the Rising Son, housing the revered Altar of the Eternal Flame and the enigmatic Glass of the Eternal Visage.   Extending before the temple is the expansive High Temple Square, flanked by imposing statues depicting the esteemed Conclave, leaders of the Avales. Standing opposite the temple is a towering monument dedicated to Quras, the esteemed High Priest and Magistrate, presiding over the square with an air of solemn authority. Throughout the city, religious imagery abounds, rendered in vibrant metallic hues and pristine white marble, often centered around themes of redemption.   Architecturally, Sinos is characterized by soaring spires and elegant domes, with residential, commercial, and governmental buildings radiating outward from the central mesa. While signs of magic and technology are present, they remain relatively rare, as there exists a pervasive distrust towards magic users. Instead, the city's advancements primarily revolve around engineering marvels such as aqueducts, pulleys, and metallurgy, particularly in the crafting of weaponry.   A grand staircase descends from the mesa's base, leading to a sprawling moat encircling the city's perimeter. Flanking the moat is a formidable wall, with a grand walkway tracing its circumference. Four roads, mirroring cardinal directions, extend from the city, terminating at the base of the encircling mountains. Along the northern route lies a formidable castle, while at the eastern terminus rests the modest town of Terrate, nestled against and in the mountainside.   Within Valhaven's confines are two lakes, their waters vital for irrigation and sustenance. These lakes are connected to various parts of the valley via intricate waterways and aqueducts. Additionally, scattered throughout the landscape are numerous villages and farms, sustaining the valley's inhabitants. Below Sinos lies a bustling city where many Sacrivales reside, while caverns near Terrate serve as homes and workplaces for others of their kind, maintaining a delicate balance of industry and agriculture. Presently, Valhaven is home to approximately 50,000 Vales, with a slightly higher population of Avales, residing harmoniously within the confines of The Navel.g harmoniously within the confines of The Navel.
