Dragon Council
A gathering of some of the last dragons left on Earth, assembled centuries ago when dragons started to realize that they were slowly going extinct, and that if something didn't change they'd some day be wiped out entirely by humankind. Putting aside their differences, as much as such a group of prideful creatures could, they agreed to meet in order to figure out how they can prevent the death of their species. First meeting every decade, but the actions and progress of humanity forced them to speed up the time table to sooner and sooner every time.
Some dragons on the council wish to live peacefully alongside humankind, others wish to rule over humans, and others still would rather see the numerous species eliminated altogether. Most have used the council meetings not to convince others, but make their plans known so they can determine which other dragons may oppose them. Though for centuries those on the council have avoided direct confrontation with their own kind, as harming each other would defeat the purpose of the council, and they have largely stayed hidden from humankind, planning for some grand event in the future that they were just not ready for.
Recent events, including the appearance of a human/dragon hybrid acting as a public hero on Earth, has reminded humanity that dragons truly exist. The council is not likely to stay silent forever now that they can no longer stay hidden.
Factions within the Council
While all dragons on the council have their own ideas on how best to survive in this new world, two alliances of common interests have popped up among them. All dragons of the council belong to either faction, or are thus far unaligned. Though with the changes on Earth, and dragons no longer being able to hide, more and more have felt compelled to side with one or the other.- Peace Keepers -
The dragon faction of the council that believes dragons can live among mankind. Whether they want to just quietly hide among humans, or serve a mentoring role to the younger species, depends on the dragon. Some admire humans, some simply don't want the trouble. But they have all largely agreed that war with humanity, or trying to rule over humankind, is not the answer. The Peace Keepers are led by Shenlong.- Conquerors Faction -
Those among the dragon council that have united out of a common hatred or contempt of humankind. Some wish to rule humanity, others eliminate the species altogether, and largely see humans only as servants, food, or entertainment. Whatever the ultimate purpose an individual dragon has for humankind in mind, they all recognize they will need to unite to overcome both humanity and the dragons that might defend them. The Conquerors are led by Saint Coca.- Still Wardens -
Third among the council are those who neither want to befriend humanity or destroy it, they want to exist peacefully on the Earth but don't believe dragons can live equally among humans. They believe dragons need to stay some level of separated, but also provide a careful hand so that humanity does not destroy their shared world.
