Introduction
Welcome to my more-or-less first (real) dive into worldbuilding and dungeonmastering, The Clockwork World.
The world is a fantasy one, with some other elements, mainly clockpunk, mixed in.
There's endless dungeoncrawling in the clockworks, but plenty of room for adventure on the surface.
But first, there's some things you probably need to know, and this is a collection of that.
Regions and States
The world is relatively small, with little land, and little of it habitable. The whole of the continents and sea are only about as wide as Africa; about 4,000 miles
(~6400 km)
Ylosia
The largest continent of the world, Ylosia is the home of the Humans and Dwarves. Humans of the feudal empire of
Solland live in the forests and fields of the eastern half of the continent, bordering the sea, while the Dwarves of
The Underkingdom of Iron find their homes in the mountain range that divides the continent, separating the lands of Solland from the vast desert.
Ylosia is connected by land to Aukkland, where the humans and orcs meet.
Onrelin
Onrelin is an isolated continent, only connected to another by a freezing passage in the north. Elves have built their state of
Alnathas in its temperate forests, and to its north, born of travellers from Ylosia who decided to stay, is the state of
Myrriik.
Aukkland
Aukkland is the swampy home of the orcs. It isn't a generous land, and the orcs have fought for resources for centuries. Somewhat recently, they've coalesced into the
Brothers of Aukkland,
Hell's Hearth is an archipelago in the
Brass Wastes, a land only the Tieflings could find inhabitable, or even accessible. They had to, after they were driven from their true home of
Nyland. The soil is volcanic ash and the stone is tuff. But it's not without its gifts; the soil is rich in nutrients and the abundance of sulfur has lead to the Tielfings inventing gunpowder.
Nyland
A frontier to Solland and a painful memory for the Tieflings, Nyland is a fertile continent that was once colonized by Solland. Those colonies have since declared their independence and formed
Xelland.

This is a map of the surface, a slice of the largely uninhabitable and featureless terrain of the planet. But what lies beneath?
