Cascanlezzo
Cascanlezzo is an old castle town that has historically guarded the border between the kingdoms of Rommio, Varlia and Sartha. It has changed allegiance over the centuries, serving as an important border casle for several kingdoms, but has always been ruled by the Tiaudore Family. The Tiaudore is of low nobility. Originally a family of merchants, they aquired prestige over the generations, until the King of Rommio granted the family Patrician a castle: Castello Delsa.
The castle came with a small town, and given its strategic important the Tiaudore family quickly rose to power within the region. Through conquests, inheritance and political games, the family has served many different kings and switched between being part of the Kingdom of Rommio, Varlia and Sartha throughout history. Since the unification of the kingdoms of Rommio and Varlia and the subsequent unification of Elmara the castle town has been part of the Duchy of Sartha.
With the unification of the Elmaran kingdoms the castle town has lost its strategic importance, but the same does not go for the Tiaudore family. Morrio, the head of the family, rules in the castle, and his brother lives in the Tiaudore estate in Varrava, where he oversees the family's merchant business. Other relatives hold high positions in various courts across Rommio-Varlia, ensuring the family's importance and influence.
Cascanlezzo itself is a modest town. It's situated on a rocky hill, crested by Castello Delsa. Olive groves line te hills, and small farms line the road. The lower part of the town is made up of shops and homes, with courtyards and gardens. The main road is lined by various multi-storey buildings, with shops on the ground floor and the shopowners' homes above. Its people adore festivites and the town get's decorated during season festivals and local celebrations. Lights and lantarns decorate the streets, while coloured tents and stalls host all sorts of shops, activities and games.
